About the Business
When we opened our doors in 1976, Gingerbread Corner provided the first after-school care scheme in the UK - and probably the first in Europe. We started to look after under fives in 1984, and now provide care for nearly 200 children a day in a large, open, spacious, accessible and purpose built child-care centre, with gardens and an Adventure Playground. We have a Soft Play Room and a Sensory Room, and 75% of the children's meals are home-made.
Because Gingerbread Corner is a non-profit making Charity, we use a fee system so that those on a lower income pay a discounted fee. Many of our "ex-children" have returned as parents - and quite a few as staff members - and I can't think of a better testimonial to our services and our continuity of care.
